OK Folks the facts and statistics prove that Facebook is in. Whether you like it or not it’s the big thing, and as market data continues to come in its going to get a lot bigger. So, since they are the big dogs we have to play by their rules. If this post helps to keep you from being kicked off or going into the Facebook Jail then I’m not wasting my time and you, well read on and see if it I’m wasting your time.
Why do we humans jump into things and not read the instructions first. I know on many occasions the instructions rarely if ever are remotely understandable, but folks in this case it could help. Regarding the Facebook Guideline page, it is actually very understandable. So read it first before you jump in and do anything related to your business. Being in the “Facebook Jail” isn’t earning you any money.
The most common mistake that most online marketers make is buying “Likes” and “Friends.” Yes, there are websites that will sell likes and friends. As my Daddy used to say, “Boy if you have to buy your friends they are not your friends. They are just dead weight.” In the Facebook world this is so true. Once your “friends” are bought sooner or later they will go away. In mass quantities too and where will you be, in the same boat the day before you bought your friends, but thirty to fifty dollars lighter. Also it may tick off the Facebook Police and get you kicked off of Facebook for a while.
Remember any pictures posted with words embedded in the picture must cover no more than 20% of the picture. This includes your Facebook cover, Advertisements, and Apps. You name, address, email, website link, phone number and anything else you want to add must go in the “ABOUT ME” page.
I love Facebook advertisements. They are a great way to get people to my Facebook site but more especially the Return on Investment is a great multiplier. Not only will the Ads move traffic to my account, but they also position my Facebook page to a higher ranking. Better the ranking the more people will visit your page. The more people who visit your page the more LEADS you will get for your business.
Now when posting an advertisement make sure there are no and I mean no audio, or flash animation. We don’t want any sex or sexually suggestive material, no politics (keep it at the kitchen table) and above all use the Queen’s English. That’s grammatically correct and coherent written expression in the English language. Use no slang, or partial words which we may find in our new age of text messages. Any of the above will get your advertisement rejected.
By all means use a picture in your Ads and Apps. I like to use photos that will catch a person’s eye. Use something that will make your target audience feel the need to click on the Ad. Google and Yahoo images have a great library of images that are in the public domain. Remember its numbers folks. The more people you draw from your targeted audience the better, and again, no sexually suggestive material, because there are kids out there. And again it will tick off the Facebook Police.
Now, this should go without saying. Be truthful in your Ads. Don’t make promises that you cannot keep. Don’t sell less than what is advertised. No Illegal activity. No hate speech directed toward anyone or any group even if no one really likes them anyway. And don’t reference Facebook in a manner which may insinuate the Facebook Corporate Heads may like you, or care if you are alive. Because they really don’t, all the Facebook Corporation cares about is your money. If you pay them and succeed then you will pay them more money in the future. If you give them money and your advertisements doesn’t succeed well they still have your money. It’s a win-win for Facebook.
If any of this was useful and you find yourself in need of taking your business to a new level ask me how.
